British Grand Prix 2017
Next week sees the British Grand Prix return to Silverstone with F1 fans being treated to four days of track action.
In an effort to ease congestion gates will open at 2pm on Thursday 13th July leaving visitors free to enjoy an extra day of F2 and GP3 practice and first-class F1 Fan Zone entertainment. If you’re lucky enough to have weekend tickets you’ll be allowed access on the Thursday, although this won’t include entry to the Travis concert taking place in the evening. If not, tickets can be purchased for £40 for adults and £20 for children.
So, what else do you need to know if you’re heading to the home of British Motor Racing? In this guide, we’ll help ensure you make it a weekend to remember.
Party with the Petrol Heads
The Woodlands Campsite is a stone’s throw from the circuit and has all the mod cons you would expect including flushing toilets and hot showers. Choose between “lively” or family camping and spend your weekend socialising with likeminded fans.
The Woodlands Campsite doesn’t just provide accommodation. You can enjoy a pint straight from the barrel at “The Petrol Head” pub, treat yourself to a souvenir at one of the official trade stands, watch live sport on the big screens, enjoy live entertainment from top bands and DJs and even test your aim with clay pigeon shooting.
Put the Glam in Glamping
If you want to add a touch of luxury to your F1 experience why not treat yourself to a glamping experience like no other. Hotel Bell Tent have fused camping with a boutique hotel experience resulting in stunning, Instagram ready accommodation.
Choose between standard accommodation in a simple bell tent, a fully dressed luxury tent, a gypsy bowtop caravan, a glampervan or even a retro Airstream trailer.
It’s not just the accommodation that will take your breath away, Hotel Bell Tent go above and beyond to ensure your experience is first class. You’ll receive a glass of chilled Prosecco at the beautiful Hotel Bell Tent bar, a delicious breakfast, access to a movie den with a TV screen, cosy beanbags and more.
Add Some Mileage
Most hotels close to the circuit book up well in advance but if you’re willing to travel there are still rooms to be had. Make sure to pre-book your parking pass or Park and Ride ticket and head there early as it can take a while to get to the circuit. The last Park and Ride buses depart for the circuit at 10.30am so an early start really is essential.
Do it in 5* Star Style
If you have the means why not let someone else take care of everything from your accommodation to VIP hospitality. Exclusive GP provide a range of packages to ensure you get the best track views, enjoy the finest gourmet food and drink and rub shoulders with Grand Prix legends.
Whether you want to arrive at the circuit in a helicopter or walk the pit lanes Exclusive GP will work to make your dreams a reality.
Pit Stop Style
Dress for the occasion but stand out from the crowd with racing inspired clothing from top British brands. We love Hackett London’s Aston Martin Racing Collection which includes classic men’s polo shirts, outerwear and accessories.
If two wheels is more your style Barbour have two lines of biker-inspired clothing. The Barbour International Collection includes motorcycle jackets and distinctive logo t-shirts while the Barbour International Steve McQueen Collection provides a modern take on Steve McQueens classic style.
Food & Drink
Grab a free food map as you enter to guide you through the culinary delights on offer at the circuit and make the most of special offer vouchers. There are plenty of options to choose from including katsu curry, green thai curry pasties, veggie beano burritos as well as the classic dishes you would expect from typical street food vendors like burgers and chips!
