Caring for Your Footwear

Good quality footwear will last for years provided a little bit of time is taken to care for it. Here are our top tips for looking after some of our most popular shoes and boots:Hunter Wellingtons

Hunter Wellingtons

  • Wipe clean or use cold soapy water
  • Leave to dry naturally
  • Do not store in boot bag until completely dry
  • Do not leave next to a radiator or other artificial heat sources
  • Do not leave in direct sunlight
  • Store in a cool, dry place

For a pristine finish use Boot Buffer to remove waxy bloom (insoluble particles which may rise to the surface of the boot) or Instant Boot Shine to restore the boots natural finish.

  • Clean using a soft brush and rinse with tap water
  • Leave to dry naturally for a minimum of 48 hours
  • Do not leave next to a radiator or other artificial heat sources
  • Do not leave in direct sunlight
  • Store in a cool, dry place

For the best results use Footwear Cleaner or Footwear Protector Spray on nubuck and suede leathers and Conditioner on smooth leathers. For well worn boots use Leather Cream in the foot area and where the boot flexes to soften the leather.

  • Brush clean or buff with a damp cloth
  • Leave to dry naturally
  • Do not leave next to a radiator or other artificial heat sources
  • Use a shoe tree to help retain shape

For enhanced shine apply a Quality Wax Shoe Polish or Shoe Cream to leather shoes and buff off with either a dry cloth or a brush. Wipe nubuck shoes with a cloth dipped in slightly soapy, warm water and for suede shoes brush up the nap with a suede brush.

  • Clean with a damp cloth
  • Leave to dry naturally for a minimum of 12 hours
  • Do not leave next to a radiator or other artificial heat sources
  • Wear in dry conditions on the first couple of occasions

To preserve, condition and nourish leather boots use Saddle & Leather Dressing. Leather Conditioner helps repel water and adds a soft sheen. For suede boots brush gently using a Suede Brush and apply Suede Protector to protect against stains.
