Kate Middleton – Style Icon
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the Royals with lots to look forward to from Prince William and Kate expecting their third child to the up and coming royal wedding of Prince Harry to Megan Markel. We are beyond excited to see Megan’s wedding dress, but it will be hard to top the Duchesses beautiful Sarah Burton number. Kate still holds the style crown in our eyes, so we thought we’d look back at the Duchesses fashion evolution and the key moments that have made her a true style icon.
The duchesses style has definitely developed over the years however she has always taken pride in her appearance, here she is sporting a country-esc outfit in August 2004. As well as following the Duchesses fashion choices we’ve loved following her and Prince Williams relationship, we wouldn’t normally approve of such matchy-matchy outfits, but we love this early photo of the couple.
A stand out look for Kate was most definitely the outfit she wore to announce her engagement in 2010, this sapphire blue dress by Issa was the perfect dress for such a special day.
However ask anyone what the all time stand out style moment for Kate Middleton is and it would have to be on her wedding day in 2011. The Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen design was something out of a fairy-tale and left people in awe of the duchess wanting to mirror her style choices ever since.Dressed down Kate in 2012, it’s not only formal wear that the duchess pulls off, her mix of high street and designer pieces create the perfect relaxed outfits.
In 2013 when presenting her newborn to the press The Duchess wore a beautiful light blue polka dot dress by Jenny Packham which was made bespoke for her.
In 2016 The Duchess was shot by Josh Olins for Vogue, the shoot really shows off her effortless sense of style. This is the first shoot she has ever consented to; the photographer has been able to capture Kate’s personality while also cementing why she is a true style icon.
Recently Kate has upped the style stakes during her royal duties, these two outfits show that she’s not afraid to break boundaries. The outfit on the left by Gucci is giving us some serious style envy and this red off the shoulder Alexander McQueen dress she wore to a garden party in Berlin is the perfect dress for a trip away.
I think we can all appreciate the families Christmas card last year, particularly the duchesses outfit and her twist on classic royal attire. The baby blue theme is so adorable, we’d love to receive this through our letterbox at Christmas.
When it comes to maternity style the Duchess has it covered, pictured here wearing a red hounds tooth coat by Catherine Walker paired with a Chanel bag and Tod’s. It’s safe to say the duchess looks flawless for any occasion and her wardrobe makes us and many others very jealous, we can’t wait to see what Kate wears next.
