The Making of CHO Fashion & Lifestyle’s Editorial Shoot with Lakelovers
In 2018 a fantastic opportunity arose for CHO Fashion & Lifestyle to team up with Lakelovers – a local
business who pride themselves on hand-picking individual properties in unique locations at the heart of the
Lake District, equipped to the highest standard to suit every taste and pocket.
As the leading holiday cottage company in the Lake District, location choice was a tricky one, with so many
beautiful properties to choose from, our team quickly got to work! We sifted through a variety of wonderful
rentals, from charming picture-postcard cottages to luxury barn conversions and could-be-castles. Yet, we
knew our search was complete once we were met with Herdwick View.
An imposing Victorian residence that was built in the grounds of the neighbouring Armathwaite Hall, is
located at the northern end of Lake Bassenthwaite, just ten minutes’ drive from Keswick, this lovely area of
the Lake District is a haven of peace and quiet.
Once our location was firmly ticked off the ‘to-do’ list we got going with the rest of the planning (there’s a
lot!) Next up, models. Similar to the long list of locations, there was also a long list of models to choose from
too. After some difficult whittling down and um’s and ah’s we made our decision – Hannah and Jack from
Nemesis Models were cast!
Before we knew it, weeks become days and shoot day was upon us…
Approaching Herdwick View, cars rallied up the drive full of the latest season trends overflowing onto the
laps of two eager models. As we pulled up onto the gravel drive, all came to a standstill as we were instantly
struck by the beautiful surrounding scenery and unique character of the building.
Equipment was swiftly unpacked, lights constructed and the steamer in full swing – one of the four spacious
bedrooms was assigned ever important ‘fashion cupboard’, with an en-suite double room, space was
aplenty. The undeniably inviting king-sized bed soon became unrecognisable as carefully curated looks
were laid out for the day ahead.
Cue music. Cue production assistants. Cue stylists. Cue Make-Up. How many people does it take to run a
photo shoot?
To kick-start the shoot for CHO Fashion & Lifestyle’s editorial, it was impossible to ignore the stunning
backdrop that set the beautiful and peaceful north lakes scene. With miles of drystone walls and farmland
alongside all-encompassing rolling hills, we began to shoot – against a natural backdrop to rival all. As the morning drew to a close, spirits were running high; fantastic shots of fashion-forward puffers from the
likes of The Northface, fuzzy fleeces from Penfield and chic faux furs from French Connection were
captured. The afternoon brought the shoot inside the Victorian residence, with a choice of four bedrooms, all
with ensuite facilities, a cosy and welcoming lounge, a fantastic social kitchen with contemporary dining
area, the property really did offer a luxurious quality location.
All in all, the day was a complete success! Thanks to a fab team, the ultimate professional models and an
idyllic location the shoot ran without fault. While AW 18 is in full swing, here at CHO Fashion & Lifestyle, we
are looking forward to the up and coming trends and styles for 2019 – keep a look out for them appearing at
